1. Tools are estimates
Subnet math is exact. Bandwidth estimates and password-entropy figures are approximations based on common assumptions (e.g., GPU hashrate). Always verify safety- or business-critical calculations against authoritative sources.
2. Not professional advice
myipcat.com doesn't provide network engineering, security consulting, or legal advice. Information here is general reference. For network designs, security audits, or compliance work, consult a qualified professional.
3. Use at your own risk
The site is provided "as is" without warranty. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim liability for direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of (or inability to use) the site.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Scrape or republish the site's content without permission.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the site or its hosting infrastructure.
- Interfere with the operation of the site for other users.
- Use the site to plan or carry out attacks on other systems.

The plain-English version of what using this site means
Legal boilerplate is what it is, but here's a plainer restatement of the important parts.
Use at your own risk
The tools on this site are provided as-is. Every one of them is my honest best effort at a useful implementation, but errors are possible. If a WHOIS lookup returns stale data because the RDAP endpoint had a bad cache, that's not my fault but I still can't guarantee against it. If an IP geolocation shows a city that's wrong (which happens routinely because geolocation is inherently fuzzy), that's the underlying data. If you make a business decision based on a result from this site and it turns out to be wrong, that's on you.
Verify results against authoritative sources when the answer matters. Run parallel checks with other tools when accuracy is critical. Use this site to accelerate common tasks, not to replace judgment.
No warranty of any kind
Explicitly: no warranty that the tools are fit for any particular purpose, no warranty of accuracy, no warranty of continued availability. The site might go down for maintenance, an upstream provider might have an outage, an API dependency might break its contract, or I might decide to sunset a tool. Any of these can happen without notice.
Reasonable use expected
You can use the tools freely for legitimate purposes: personal admin work, small-business troubleshooting, learning about networking, professional infrastructure administration. Automated scraping, hammering the endpoints thousands of times per minute, or otherwise abusing the site's infrastructure is not welcome and will result in rate limits or blocks.
If you want to build an automated system that uses these tools, please contact me first. The infrastructure is paid-for and has real API costs behind some of the tools; sustained heavy use burns through those quickly. Legitimate integration is often possible if we talk about it; unannounced abuse just gets blocked.
No liability for consequential damages
If your production system depends on an outbound query to this site and this site is temporarily unavailable and your production system therefore breaks, that's a bad architecture on your part. Nothing on this site should be a critical dependency of anything else. To the maximum extent allowed by law, no liability for consequential, indirect, incidental, or punitive damages arising from use of this site.
You retain your own data
Content you paste into the tools (IPs, domains, headers, hashes, whatever) belongs to you. This site doesn't claim any ownership of it. This site also doesn't retain it beyond what's needed to perform the immediate query (and, for cached lookups, a temporary cached result). See the Privacy page for the specific data-flow description.
You take responsibility for how you use results
If you look up someone's IP address and use the result to harass them, that's on you. If you scrape reference data from the site to build a competing product, that's a jerk move but also technically permitted for public data (there's no copyright on the underlying facts, just on my specific expression of them). If you use the tools to investigate something malicious about a system you don't have permission to investigate, that's on you too.
The tools are neutral utilities. What you do with them is your responsibility.
Attribution and reuse of site content
The reference data on this site (port numbers, DNS record types, HTTP status codes, private IP ranges, etc.) is factual and not subject to copyright. You can freely use those facts anywhere.
The specific expression — the prose I've written explaining what the reference data means, the tool interfaces, the layout — is copyrighted. You can quote small portions for legitimate purposes (education, discussion) under fair use principles. Wholesale copying of my prose to build a competing site is not fair use.
The tool code itself is not open source. This is a hobby project run by one person and I haven't figured out a licensing model yet. If you want to fork any of it, please contact me and we can discuss.
External links and dependencies
Some pages link to external sites (Cloudflare's speed test, ipinfo.io, various vendor documentation). These are for user convenience. I don't control what happens at those external sites, don't warrant their accuracy or availability, and don't take responsibility for their privacy practices. When you follow an external link, you're leaving myipcat.com.
Age and jurisdiction
You need to be old enough in your jurisdiction to enter into agreements to use this site. In most places that's 13 or 16 depending on local law. If you're a minor in a jurisdiction with specific rules about online services, comply with those.
The site is operated from Vermont, USA. If you access it from a jurisdiction where any part of what the site does is illegal, don't access it. Common jurisdiction-specific issues: some countries restrict IP geolocation lookups or WHOIS queries. Not our problem to enforce, but be aware.
Changes to these terms
These terms might get updated as the site evolves. When they change, the change becomes effective when it's posted. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the change. Substantive changes will be noted visibly; minor rewording won't.
If any part of this is unenforceable
Standard severability clause: if a court finds any part of these terms unenforceable, the rest of the terms remain in effect. The unenforceable part is treated as if it were the closest enforceable version.

hello@myipcat.com goes to me. For DMCA notices, subpoenas, cease-and-desist letters, or other formal legal correspondence, use the same address and expect a response within a few business days. Be aware that this is a solo operation without a legal team — I engage counsel case-by-case for anything that needs it.
What "we" means on this page
"We" is one person: me, the network admin who runs this site. There is no corporate entity behind myipcat.com. The site is operated as a personal project. If you're looking for a corporate registration to serve legal process on, there isn't one; personal service at the contact address is the way.
